Aaahhhhhh, the sunshine. Yes, it is out again today. I am loving it. After the three different snow storms that came through, one of those being a blizzard, in three weeks, I am glad to have sunshine. It was so cold and the wind blew so hard. The first storm was just some dry snow, not enough to affect much more than the traffic, I think we may have had 6" of snow and got us two days out of school. The second storm was a blizzard with 21" of snow and winds that gusted into the 30s and we missed 4 days of school. The third storm had blizzard qualities but didn't meet the wind criteria or we would have had two blizzards in two weeks. We had about 8" of snow near our house but other areas had 24" of it. It was extemely cold for two days after the snow stopped with Nowata, OK getting down to -31 degrees overnight one night. We missed three days of school from that. I must admit that I didn't mind being out of school however, I think my husband and I were rapidly approaching being material for a new episode for the series "SNAPPED", lol. We do not do couped up very well. We were both very glad to be back in school this week. And I would prefer not to have anymore snow storms like that for a loooooooong time. :)
I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!
Okay, okay, I know that the song says, "I can see clearly now, the rain has gone" but, moisture is moisture and if you ask the weathermen, they will say that so many inches of snow equal so many inches of rain, right? Plus, I don't know of any songs that use snow clearing away as an inspiration. The weather has been absolutely beautiful ever since the final storm passed through. It has put me a non-teaching mode that I am really struggling to overcome because state testing is rapidly approaching and I still have required curriculum to cover. So, as a treat to myself and my students, I played this video for them on Monday. They really enjoyed it. Most of them had heard this song and were glad to hear it again, others were introduced to a new song and will be looking forward to hearing it again. It was a nice start to what was going to be the first full week back in school since January 31st. It was a long week, even the kids agree. It seemed longer than normal but, having this song start it off was nice. The kids have mentioned it off and on all week. Now, to come up with one for next Tuesday..... :)
